In this first session of a three-part series, the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) describes the purpose and scope of the 10 Essential Public Health Services and Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) frameworks and explains why they are essential for building resilient, equitable public health systems.
PHAB staff, along with staff from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Division of Public Health and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI) highlight how Wisconsin has embraced the FPHS frameworks and the role they play in strengthening governmental public health. Staff members from the Manitowoc County and Washburn County Health Departments also share how they have used the FPHS in their local health departments.
To continue the conversation, please join the upcoming sessions on March 11 and April 23, when we will take a closer look at the Foundational Capabilities identified via polling results from this session. In sessions 2 and 3, we will work through case examples of how the Foundational Capabilities practically apply to governmental public health, as well as how they apply to you and your organization.
