UWPHI and DHS Presents a PHIG Narrative Summer Series

We are pleased to announce a new Narrative “Summer Series” hosted jointly by UWPHI and DPH/DHS. These 90-minute events will be conversational, workshop-style virtual learning opportunities designed to increase participants’ understanding of narrative’s connection to specific topics within public health.

July 18th from 10am – 11:30am CST
UWPHI PHIG Narrative Coordinator Annie Rosemurgy will talk with Maggie Northrop, DHS’s State Health Plan Coordinator. In this session we will explore Wisconsin’s SHIP (State Health Improvement Plan) in depth. We’ll talk about SHIP history, how the SHIP functions within public health, and explore how the current SHIP priorities were created. We’ll explore how the current language of the newest SHIP was drafted with a special focus on prioritizing narrative.

Aug. 29th from 1pm – 3:30pm CST
UWPHI PHIG Narrative Coordinator Annie Rosemurgy will talk with Kirsten Gundersen, Health Equity Strategist in the Office of Policy and Practice Alignment. This session will focus on special topics in the field. We’ll take questions from participants and have a workshop-style conversation about how to approach issues in public health from a narrative perspective. We’ll also discuss how to frame HE in communities where equity is a divisive topic.

All governmental public health staff and allied partners are invited to join the Summer Series. Content may be of particular interest to individuals who want to learn more about the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), with a focus on using narrative as a priority with the newest SHIP, and to frame health equity in communities where equity is a divisive topic.
