Jennifer Tranmer is the Communications Specialist for the newly created Opioid Harm Prevention Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She is contracted through UW-Madison to work for this team, which was created under the Prescription Drug Overdose: Prevention for States grant through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
As part of this team, Jennifer supports the efforts at the Department of Health Services to prevent opioid overdose death and reverse the harmful effects of opioid abuse of both prescription and non-prescription medications. She is part of a comprehensive effort to address this escalating problem in the state of Wisconsin. She designs educational materials for both print and online publication. She is responsible for creating messaging, including print and multimedia, on a variety of platforms.
Her background in journalism and interest in health care and public health drove her to seek this position. She is working to develop an effective communications strategy to support the efforts of her team as well as the other divisions within the Department of Health Services.
