He is contracted through UW-Madison to work for this team, which was created under the Prescription Drug Overdose: Prevention for States grant through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
As part of this team, Ron supports the efforts at the Department of Health Services to prevent opioid overdose death and reverse the harmful effects of opioid abuse of both prescription and non-prescription medications. He is part of a comprehensive effort to address this escalating problem in the state of Wisconsin. He works with data provided by the Wisconsin Office of Health Informatics and other sources to provide information for local health departments and other stakeholders, to help guide state education and intervention efforts, and to analyze data for better understanding of the scope and development of the opioid problem.
Ron has a background in both clinical and data analytic approaches to understanding problems related to substance use and abuse and opioid related harm. His work will support the program development, evaluation, and outreach efforts of the opioid harm reduction team.
