Jed is a Narrative Infrastructure Specialist with County Health Rankings & Roadmaps. This team’s work includes implementing narrative change across University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI) and externally through Narratives for Health . Alongside many partners and supporters, Narratives for Health is a project co-led by CHR&R and Human Impact Partners that seeks to build a collective of organizations seeking to shift their work toward more inclusive ideas and worldviews that support health and racial justice.
Prior to joining CHR&R, Jed worked in local public health departments, which gave him firsthand experience with the breadth of work that a small, tightknit team does at the frontlines of public health. That work reinforced his commitment to evidence-based communications and community engagement. Working with Healthy People Healthy Democracy as a researcher, Jed helped develop the Health & Democracy Index, which highlights the correlation between more voting access and better health outcomes. That work displayed the power of narrative in the public health context.
Jed holds a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina with a concentration in Leadership in Practice, a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in French, both from Mercer University. Residing in Ohio, Jed can be found enjoying a good book in the great outdoors (or puzzling out a new board game in bad weather).
