PHIG Spotlight: Adams County Health Department
Cody Przybylski
In this Spotlight, Cody Przybylski, Health Officer at the Adams County Health Department, will share how PHIG funding supported a Men’s Night Out community event, creating space for connection, fellowship, and conversations around health and well-being.
Men’s Night Out was designed to promote men’s health, encourage preventive care, and connect residents with local resources. The event provided a relaxed, social environment where men could learn about health topics that often go unaddressed, including chronic disease prevention, mental wellness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle habits.
The event featured a combination of health education, screenings, and interactive activities. Participants had access to blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, and information on heart health, cancer prevention, and stress management. Public Health staff and partnering agencies were available to answer questions and provide guidance on local services.
Resource booths from community partners, including healthcare providers, fitness programs, mental health organizations, and social service agencies, offered materials and demonstrations tailored to men’s wellness. The event also included food, raffles, and informal social time to encourage participation and reduce stigma around seeking health information.
The PHIG Spotlight Series is a platform for Wisconsin public health departments to share their experiences, lessons learned, and barriers encountered while implementing programs or policies. The goal is to foster shared learning, collaboration, and innovation across public health agencies.
