Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute

The Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute (HWLI) was a continuing education and training resource supported jointly by the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Funded through the Wisconsin Partnership Program (affiliated with SMPH) and the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment (affiliated with the Medical College), HWLI was created to contribute to the development of a “sufficient and competent workforce,” one of the infrastructure priorities of the state health plan, Healthiest Wisconsin 2010. MCW and UW faculty and staff, a planning committee of experts, and others worked closely together over several months in 2005 to develop the institute. With an overall emphasis on collaborative leadership, a variety of relevant programs and learning opportunities are offered that address continuing education and professional development needs of the institute’s diverse target audience. Major institute program areas were the Community Teams Program, Health Policy Program, and Lifelong Learning and Mentoring Program.
