Spotlight on Forest County Health Department

In this Spotlight, the Forest County Health Department will share the process and outcome of creating workplans for each of the county’s Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Health Focus Areas. 

The workplans help guide coalitions implementing strategies and keep them invested. This connects back to the community health plan and reiterates ways it’s a county-wide plan, not just owned by Public Health. The department’s PHIG funding also provided the time and skillset to create a CHIP annual report template. 

The PHIG Spotlight Series is a platform for Wisconsin public health departments to share their experiences, lessons learned, and barriers encountered while implementing programs or policies. The goal is to foster shared learning, collaboration, and innovation across public health agencies.

About the Presenters

Tammi Boers is the Health Director for Forest County Health Department. She has been in the position for one year.  She has more than 25 years of experience working in the public health field. She has made public health her career as she is passionate to provide people opportunities to live their best lives. Outside of work, Tammi likes to try new things along with enjoying things she already loves.

Melissa Kelly is a Public Health Nurse at Forest County Health Department since April of 2025, with some past experience as a contact tracer with this department during COVID. Prior to coming to the Health Department, she worked as a nurse for three years in Oncology. Melissa is passionate about making a difference in the community that she grew up in and is raising her family in.
