An Introduction to the Foundational Capabilities and Centering Values in Narrative

In the recorded portion of this Immersion, guest presenters from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) — Reena Chudgar and Naomi Rich — join the conversation to:

  • Describe and deepen our understanding of the Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) framework and its components, with a focus on the Foundational Capabilities and how they connect to attendees’ existing work.
  • Share examples of FPHS in practice from other states and amongst attendees.

UWPHI Narrative Coordinator Annie Rosemurgy concludes the program with an exploration of where narratives and values lie in complex messages and takes a deeper dive on the idea that narratives are always expressions of cultural values and never value-neutral.
