Nicole graduated from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan with a BAA in Family Studies. After graduating, she worked at a domestic violence shelter in Pontiac, Michigan for five years, where she became familiar with the many barriers to housing, healthcare, and other basic necessities for living a healthy life. With the goal of building communities where people can not only survive, but thrive, Nicole returned to school and pursued an MS in Urban and Regional Planning. Nicole is working with the Wisconsin Obesity Prevention Initiative helping to develop built environment surveillance indicators and is working on an assessment of healthy community policies in municipal comprehensive plans.
