Hmongshee Khang

Hmongshee was born and raised in central WI, which is where I’m currently still located. I attended University of Wisconsin Stevens Point for my bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration, but always had a passion in community health. The focus for Hmongshee has been on health equity such as advocating and uplifting marginalized populations, in rural communities, to improve health. Health disparities widened during the pandemic, which lead me to working with immigrant communities in central WI to better access health services.

While advocating for the community, she also noticed a lack of diversity and sustainability in our workforce in Community Health.  Partnerships with other Community Health Workers (CHW) have motivated me to empower rural CHWs and support them by having conversations with leadership about improving our workforce development in Community Health.  She hopes to provide more support for CHWs through my role with Envision and MATCH. I am pleased to also be part of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Advisory Committee, so I can be a voice for CHWs and rural marginalized communities
