Dr. Amanda Gatewood’s research investigates how professionals and communities take action using the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps data and resources.
Dr. Gatewood is particularly interested in:
• community-engaged research methodologies that aim to influence the social determinants of health,
• design thinking approaches that support online research and audience engagement, and
• translational research that impacts health and social policy.
Before joining the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, Dr. Gatewood supported the translation of research to policy and action in the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a AAAS Fellow. She has also worked as an epidemiologist for the Kentucky Department of Health and as a Senior Research Coordinator for Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Gatewood completed a Master’s in Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley and a PhD at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
