Selma Aly is an experienced community leader and multimedia producer. As a queer womxn born to Egyptian Immigrants of orthodox Islamic beliefs, Selma fights injustices at all levels. She has over 7 years of community organizing, program development, coalition building, and media relations experience. Her successful campaigns have fought for improvements across the social determinants of health including fast food minimum wage, immigrant justice, education reform, youth substance-misuse prevention, LGBT health, child trauma, and mental health, Ban the Box, and School to Prison Pipeline initiatives.  Selma founded Moonstone Media to use the power of narrative to shape how leaders fight for change in social justice movements. She expertly uses videography and photography as change tools to heal broken narratives in people and communities.  Selma is driven by her commitment to build the power of community members who experience racial and social injustices to lead systemic policy change efforts in their communities, state, and country. She believes in the journey of continuous learning and is committed to the fight for liberation with her communities. As the great leader, Malcolm X, once said, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”
