Position title: Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) Director
Dr. Angela (Angie) Allen the program director for the Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) unit of the UW Population Health Institute (UWPHI).
Dr. Allen’s educational partnerships are grounded in valuing strong relationships with local neighborhood and community residents. From this value, Dr. Allen’s career goals are to most effectively integrate methods and principles of practice to improve how residents are engaged to collaborate with community leaders and organizations; to this point, her efforts have been in grassroots entrepreneurship, creative and cultural community placemaking, digital storytelling, and complex adaptive systems change. Dr. Allen’s leadership in bringing together national-to-local resources to support underrepresented and underutilized local communities of all types has improved both the climate for, visibility and engagement of several underrepresented populations as she aims to simply build strengths-based community capacity and community-based community system change. Before joining UWPHI, Dr. Allen served as Associate Professor and Community Development Educator at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Extension, Milwaukee County.
