Kit Van Stelle, MA
Distinguished Researcher

Kit R. Van Stelle has been conducting applied evaluation research since 1985, and was part of the UW Center for Health Policy and Program Evaluation from 1989 until its integration into the Population Health Institute in 2004. She has conducted applied research and program evaluation studies at Abt Associates (Cambridge, MA), the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and as an independent consultant. Kit received her BS in Psychology and Sociology from Carroll College and her MA in Social Psychology from Northern Illinois University.

Kit’s collaborative evaluation research has included efforts with a wide variety of partners including Native American Indian tribes, Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Office of the State Public Defender, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services, various county health and human service agencies, school districts, and private health care providers. Her primary areas of concentration are Native American Indian health, criminal justice populations, problem-solving courts, and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs. The projects generally include assistance with program development and improvement, as well as outcome/impact evaluations to investigate the effectiveness of interventions.
