Daphne Kuo is a quantitative sociologist and social (health) demographer. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a focus on quantitative methods, population, and social stratification and mobility. She has since developed interest and experience focusing on health and disparities.
From 1996 to 2009, Dr. Kuo conducted research with the Tobacco Surveillance and Evaluation Program in UW Carbone Cancer Center. Prior to that, she served as an assistant professor of Sociology at University of Washington, and completed a post doctoral fellowship (2000-2002) in the Center for Demography of Health and Aging. Dr. Kuo has an unusually strong background in analyzing multiple large data sets and incorporating quantitative methods from both sociology and economics.
