Sam Austin

Elizabeth Feder Sam Austin leads the Institute’s Evidence-Based Health Policy Project. Prior to joining the Institute in 2016, Sam served for eight years as a budget analyst with the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, a non-partisan service agency of the state legislature. In this role, Sam was the lead analyst for state and federal health programs, including Medicaid, FoodShare, tobacco control, maternal and child health, and the Affordable Care Act, staffing the legislature's Joint Finance Committee and consulting with cabinet-level agencies. Sam is a graduate of the La Follette School of Public Affairs.
