Identify and examine alternative multi-sectoral
governance partnerships or structures to improve population health and develop incentive models to stimulate
multi-sectoral accountability and action toward community health improvement Dr. Kindig, working closely with Drs. Zahner, Oliver, and Mullahy, will lead the
work to examine the role of "Solid Partnerships and Real Incentives" in population health
improvement.
Activity B.1: Conduct community case studies
The purpose of these case studies is to identify key components and capacities of existing or emerging multi-sectoral
governance or organizational structures and partnership strategies that are associated with population health
improvement
Activity B.2: Develop incentive models for Action to Improve Community Health
Further development of summary population health metrics
Develop financial incentive and partnership models to Mobilize Action Toward Community Health: this activity is
intended to identify the potential sources of funding and the creation of appropriate and effective payment
incentives and, building on the work in B.1, identify the partnership or governance models that are needed to
implement such incentives.
Activity B.3: Identify ways for multi-sectoral governance partnerships/structures to incorporate incentives for
improving population health metrics
We will issue an open solicitation during 2010 for communities/regions to submit the best and most innovative ideas
for using metrics, multi-sectoral partnerships, and incentives to improve community health. The most promising
proposals/groups will be invited to a Spring 2011 meeting where these ideas will be shared and further developed.
