Healthiest Wisconsin 2010: Tracking and Status

  1. Tracking the State Health Plan 2010 (DHFS/DPH)
This web-based system provides access to state-level data on indicators that track progress toward meeting many of the 2010 objectives. Indicators were developed in the Department of Health and Family Services based on the availability of state-level data to measure a given objective.

Note - no data are available for the Mental Health priority.

  2. Local Health Department survey (DPH/UW School of Nursing)
Local health officers were surveyed about partnerships that their health departments had with local entities as of November 2004. While the survey did not result in a complete list of all partnerships between health departments and their communities in Wisconsin, it provided a "snapshot" of many existing partnerships around the state.

  3. Healthiest WI 2010: Annual Status Report, 2005 (DHFS/DPH) (includes narrative and data tables)
This is the second Status Report from the Department of Health and Family Services on progress in implementing the State Health Plan. The 2005 report serves as a midcourse review. It analyzes data to assess progress toward achieving the 11 health priorities in the Plan, and summarizes key Department activities and issues for each of the health priorities and the five infrastructure priorities.

    • Summary data tables: There are tables for 10 of the 11 priorities providing baseline and most recent data and an indicator of change (worse, no change, improved)

  4. On Wisconsin's Health 2005
This report, in previous years titled A Report on the Health and Well-Being of Wisconsin's Citizens, is the latest in an annual series of reports that provide trend information from various data sources. For most measures, trend information in this report is for the period 1994-2004. For the first time, the 2005 report was organized based on the Healthiest Wisconsin 2010 health priorities.

  5. Healthiest WI 2010: A Mid-Term Assessment (DPH and UW Population Health Institute)
This report provides a mid-course assessment of how the public health community in Wisconsin perceives its progress toward achieving its five infrastructure priorities included in the Healthiest Wisconsin 2010 State Health plan. Key informant interviews and an online survey were conducted to assess respondents' perceptions of progress. Interviewees articulated a variety of interpretations of transformation as it relates to Wisconsin's public health system. Survey respondents indicated a high degree of familiarity with the State Health Plan and extensive use of the plan to guide ongoing activities. Their responses suggested that increased attention is particularly needed in three infrastructure areas: workforce development, financing, and integrated information systems.

  6. Wisconsin Public Health Council: State Health Plan Committee - Healthiest Wisconsin 2010
Wisconsin Act 186 (April 2004) created a Public Health Council to advise the Governor, the Legislature, the Department and the public on progress in implementing the State Health Plan as well as the coordination of responses to public health emergencies. The State Health Plan Committee (SHPC)'s charge is to make recommendations to the full Council on priorities and strategies to achieve the Council's goals related to Healthiest Wisconsin 2010, the state health plan. SHPC has three primary roles:

    1. Monitor, evaluate and communicate progress toward and away from achieving the state health plan.
    2. Champion achievement of the state health plan.
    3. Promote broad-based ownership for achieving the state health plan.

The SHPC has been reviewing each of the 2010 health priorities and providing progress reports to the full council:
