Researcher
Kirstin currently works on the MATCH project, serving as a lead researcher with the Partnerships and Incentives team. Kirstin’s professional experience reflects a strong appreciation for interdisciplinary public health research and practice. Prior roles include teaching high school biology and health education in San Francisco and managing several research and outreach projects for UC Berkeley’s Center for Weight and Health. Most recently, Kirstin served for four years as a Senior Outreach Specialist with the Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program, also based in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Her work with WI AHEC involved developing a summer internship program to link undergraduate and graduate students with local health departments throughout the state and also serving as Academic Partner for two projects funded through the Healthy Wisconsin Partnership Program. These include Sí Se Puede, a diabetes self-management program that served Green Bay’s Latino Community and The Family Table Project, which used a shared meal preparation program to improve access to nutritious food among low-income families living in Barron County. Kirstin’s research and practice interests include healthy communities movements, community based participatory research, national and local food and nutrition policies, and community health worker initiatives.
Kirstin holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Brown University and MPH and DrPH degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
